It was named in honor of first American ship that accomplished round-the-world travel. Its building was started in 1975 and its first flight took place on 12 April 1981. Columbia was first from shuttles that was modified (sum total of modifications is more than 50). In 1991, after finishing its mission Columbia was forwarded to factory of origin in California. Next year Columbia was put into service. In 1994 and 1999 Columbia was repaired again. It was lost during landing 2/1/03 after its 28th space flight.

 STAGES
   Stage 1: Preparing drawings
High accuracy drawings were used during production of the shuttle model. They were cut into sections and adapted to correct size in order to place them in the viewports for modeling.

   Stage 2: Modeling
Modeling of the basic form of the shuttle was carried out using subpatches. Then they were fixed and complementary details were added to the basic form.

   Stage 3: Texturing
Our designer developed high-quality textures for this model. Model screenshots from orthographic projections were used to make the textures.

Textured model was exported to Cult3D, where the great part of animation were designed.
